DIY: a new sling

I had elbow surgery a week ago to correct a ulnar nerve entrapment. So, for the next couple of weeks, I have to have my arm in a sling. Have you seen the standard issued slings they give out? They are sooo ugly! The creative soul in me had to make a new one. With one good working hand I made a new pretty sling using my old sling as a template.
Note: I had an extra sling and used the hard from it to make my new one.

A sling is pretty easy to make. I am a simple girl when it comes to sewing. I made my template exactly like the old sling. I also used 2 different fabrics. One for the inside and one for the outside. To make a new and improved sling all you need is: scrap fabric, binding trim and hardware from the ugly sling. Make sure you choose a fabric that is good for current climate. You want to look good and feel good with your new sling. Feel free to add decorative stitches, buttons, elastic, or other notions to customize yours. Well here's my new pretty sling, Tadahh!
