ACC Show

Saturday I attended the American Craft Council Show. I went with my home girl Teri as part of my birthday celebration this weekend. I have been far removed from the world of American crafts and fiber arts since I left undergrad. Actually, my undergrad degree is in Fiber Arts. Whaaat, yes. I can weave on a loom, dye silk, and spin wool. This city girl is a true craftsman. So it was refreshing to go the ACC show and see those amazing artists.
I miss that part of my creative life. In the past couple of years, a renew interest in crafts has been trending. Younger artists are learning about traditional crafts and creating new projects. I was totally energized after leaving the show.

Pop Talk: Cortney

Say hello to Cortney,
Cortney is an amazing crafter who has mad skills in knitting, crocheting, sewing, paper crafts, and decorating. I met this talented lady in Kansas City at my favorite craft store called Urban Arts and Crafts. She worked there as an associate. Cortney always had a smile on her face and was a great resource for all things crafty. Anytime I had a new project, Cortney gave me good advice and fun options to consider.

Did I mention she is a Yarn Whisperer? She can knit and crochet anything. Cortney has a way of making beautiful things with yarn. It totally blows my mind. Take a peek at her blog and photos on Flickr, they say it all.

Now it's time to have a little Pop Talk with Cortney

time to craft

Labor day weekend has come and gone. Summer is not really over but I can't help to start thinking about new fall projects. This is the time of year I think about what projects I want to make before the end if year. I want to sew some things, knit and practice more crochet patterns. I found some really cool things to get us all inspired.

I really like: knitting

I really like knitting. I love yarn and all the fun accessories and tools you need to knit cool stuff. I am totally a novice but I can follow a pattern pretty well. Knitting is such a slow calming craft. You can make anything with just 2 needles, it's fascinating when you really think about it. You take a ball of yarn and a few coordinated loops and you've got a sweater, scarf, or socks. Endless possibilities.

Love this cute bow from Raspberries & Moss. How cute is that?

I love this shot from Acres of diamonds. It's not your grandma's knitting. I can see myself with those cool tights knitting something cool. The colors are fab.

I love anything in some sort of box. This is such a cute knitting kit. Pic from heykimee.

Just plain adorable. Knitting is cool, check out that bag. Pic from cherry bloosom girl.
